Hello, and welcome to Talmeed Life! This is a ministry focused on curating and facilitating resources and opportunities to live a Christian lifestyle.
Oftentimes, we see a gap between learning and application when it comes to how believers are shpharded these days, but this was never the intention. It’s clear from Jesus’ own example that there’s is a way to live a life devoted to God, and this was traditionally taught through discipleship.
How Jesus, and all the Isrealites, defined being a disciple, or in their language, a talmîḏ (Pronounced: “tal-meed”, hence Talmeed Life), was a completely immersive learning experience where students would live thier lives copying the lives of thier teachers. Wherever Jesus went, his disciples followed. Whatever he did, they were supposed to imitate. This was how believers came to a true understanding of what it even meant to be a believer.
Discipleship: The Life of a Talmid
Nowadays, Christianity has become about activities. Going to church, reading devotionals, attending prayer meetings – checking off boxes (as long as those activities fit into our schedules). Other than showing up for these events, many believers’ lives don’t look so different from their non-believer counterparts. And this is where the issue arises.
There’s an emptiness in a lot of aspects of mainstream Christian culture. A yearning for something more, something deeper. We’ve found fulfillment in digging into that hunger and seeking more of Him. If you follow the pillars of Jesus’ daily lifestyle, as if you are walking with Him the way his disciples did, you will find the answer. The answer lies in devotion to prayer, study, fasting, giving. It lies in surrender of our lives and our plans to His vision.
Consider Talmeed Life a place to start. We’re here to answer questions like, “How do I strengthen my prayer life?” “How do I live a life of worship?” “What does it even look like to surrender all?” Because that is the journey we’re on.
